Sometimes its just easier to do it yourself. At ESP, we mean to
afford you that opportunity by providing direct and easy access to your subscriber
database. Of course, there are lots of benefits to such access, but this article will
focus on just one: the benefit of quickly and affordably selecting records for use by an
outside party.
Have you ever received a request from an advertiser to use a small subset of your subscriber file? Ever wanted to use such a subset yourself? ESPonDemand enables you to pull virtually any such subset and download it to Excel in just seconds. Some examples of criteria you can use: zip code range, demographic, expire date, qual date, account status, only those with e-mail address, exclude do not promote, source code, and many more. Once youve logged in to the ESPonDemand site, just click on "query." Use the "full query," to export as much data as possible and the "quick query" to exclude potentially extraneous financial fields. Either way, your results are easy to manipulate in Excel (for example, you can further eliminate columns to leave just the mailing address data). You can also use the query tool to generate quick counts or modify existing queries. Say youre looking to send a promotion to no more than 500 subscribers located in Manhattan. You run a query and determine you have 1,735 subscribers from which to choose. You can continue to change criteria and rerun queries until youve selected the best possible 500 prospects for this special promotion. You can also take advantage of the N-thing feature to have the computer select exactly 500 accounts for you. Theres no cost to running any number of queries, nor do you need to wait for someone else to rerun the query if you change your mind as to the criteria. Its all at your fingertips, so theres no reason to hesitate running additional queries if you just want to know "what if I only want ?" Try combining the query tool with ESPonDemands merge/purge tool (another free tool described in last summers newsletter). You can query for active subscribers from two of your publications, use one file as a prospect file and the other as a suppression file, drop them into the merge/purge tool, and voila! In minutes and at no additional cost, you have a file ready to cross-promote. For help in using the query tool or any tool featured in ESPonDemand, please contact your account executive. |
